Reporting directly to the Field Engineering/Quality Manager, the Mechanical QA is accountable to support Field Engineering, Construction and Turnaround team in executing the construction work in compliance with approved Engineering drawings and specifications. The primary function is to support the Turnaround Construction team to troubleshoot quality issues affecting construction progress and to support construction Quality and Turnover.
Promote and demonstrate safety awareness by participating in safety programs and meetings.
Support the Turnaround Management Team to troubleshoot quality issues affecting construction progress.
Collaborate with Home Office Engineering, Turnaround Team, vendors or other engineering resources to coordinate quality issues and daily surveillance of the work.
Review and approve Quality documents such as Contractor Quality Plans, ITP’s (Inspection and Test Plans) and third party SQS (site quality surveillance) reports.
Responsible for the identification, creation and closeout of NCR’s (Non Conformance Reports) to ensure quality of work is as per applicable industry standards and procedures. .
Providing inspection, review and acceptance of completed work. This may include review and approval of test packages, witnessing of site testing, sign quality exhibits and completing final walk-downs to verify and approve redline changes on IFC drawings (issued for construction).
Education and Experience:
Minimum of 5-10 years project plant experience
With experience and knowledge of the following:
Construction and installation of plant pressure piping systems.
Installation of machinery pumps
Construction and Inspection of pressure vessels.
Underground utilities (Sewer and Water systems etc.)
Piping Tie point installation
Quality documentation such as NDE reports, weld maps, turnover, ITP, NCR and pressure testing.
Skills and Knowledge:
CWB level 2 (recommended)
API 570 “Piping Inspection” (recommended)
ASME Codes such as ASME B31.1 (Power Piping)
ASME B31.3 (Process Piping)
American Petroleum Institute recommendations and practices such as API 686 Rotating equipment.
CSA Z662 Pipeline
Work Schedule: The schedule is 8 days on and 6 days off, 12 hours per day..
