The Technical Writer will report into the FPSO OPS Compliance Manager.

Essential Job Function

Work with FPSO OPS Process Owners and users to obtain an understanding of documentation requirements.
Analyze existing & potential content for the purpose of revising, updating and improving HSSEQ documentation.
Produce high quality documentation in a standard format i.e. following established standards, and which is appropriate for the intended audience/user.
Write, edit and review documents for style, clarity, grammar, spelling & punctuation.
Edit, standardize, or recommend revision/changes in scope, format and content to documentation prepared by other writers.
Maintain records & files of work & revisions, and arrange for distribution of documents throughout the document lifecycle as per the relevant document control procedure.
Respond to comments through the formal Comment Response Sheets.
Determine the need for the revision of previously issued documents.
Non-essential Job Functions

Develop and maintain effective relationships between the various parties identified above through effective and timely communication.
Take initiative and respond, resolve and follow up with regards to the activities listed above.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, Journalism and Diploma in Safety, or proven work experience in technical writing for HSSEQ management systems.
Intermediate knowledge of routine document content preparation, including the use of style guides.
Able to produce flowcharts and process diagrams.
Knowledge of the International Standards Organization’s management system requirements i.e. ISO 9001 – Quality Management System, ISO 14001 – Environmental Management System, and ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management System, as well as the UK HSE’s Health and Safety Guidance (HSG) 65 – Managing for Heath & Safety and the International Safety Management Code.
Knowledge of offshore oil & gas terminology would be a benefit

Other Skills/Abilities

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Detail-oriented; highly organized & self-motivated.
Dependable, self-driven and independent.
Ability to produce documentation combining clarity with precision while maintaining deadlines.
